FITCHBURG, WI — The Fitchburg Common Council has voted 6–1 to appoint Jake A. Lepper to fill the District 4 seat vacated by Alder Vafadari. Lepper, a police sergeant, Army National Guard veteran, and community advocate, was sworn in on November 25, 2025.
“I am honored by the confidence the Council has placed in me,” Lepper said. “Public service is the work of patient hands and steady minds, and I look forward to serving the residents of Fitchburg with both.”
Lepper brings nearly a decade of experience in law enforcement leadership, policy development, and community-engaged public service. His background includes work in mental health crisis response, emergency medical services, LGBTQ+ community partnership, instructing, and evidence-based policy analysis as part of his doctoral studies in law and policy.
As alder, Lepper will serve on the EMS Commission, Personnel Committee, and Community & Economic Development Authority, where he plans to advance thoughtful growth, strengthen public safety infrastructure, and ensure that city services meet the needs of every neighborhood.
“My goal is to help build a city where people feel safe, valued, and respected for our shared humanity,” said Lepper. “Fitchburg is a community at an inflection point, and I intend to be thoughtful in guiding the city into a future grounded in compassion, data, and a deep commitment to good government.”
